We were visiting the area and were craving a steak dinner without having to drive into Ft Myers. Read the reviews for this place. After visiting, I understand the reason for the wide variation in the reviews. The steaks were pretty good. Generous cuts. Cooked perfectly to order. The sides weren't spectacular. I can't exactly recall what I had. Nothing to write home about. The service was very good. Pleasant. Very formal. The decor was seriously outdated. There were a few interesting and authentic German or Austrian items in the restaurant that gave the place a little charm. The booths, curtains, carpeting all need to to be updated. Though the steak was good, the lackluster sides made the dinner seem overpriced. I do wish I had tried the schnitzel. Maybe this place should market itself as a German restaurant that also serves steaks, instead of the opposite. They did seem to cater to an older clientele and the German tourists. I was deciding between 3 and 4 stars for this review. The cost of the meal was the deciding factor in bumping it down to three.

Ate here this evening with some friends. I had never been and heard mixed reviews so I was willing to give it a try. Service was slow but they were fairly busy. Steak was cooked well but painful over seasoned. Baked potato was tiny and was only offered butter and sour cream. Fresh veggies were steamed, best thing on the plate. On my drive home I began to feel ill and I barely made it in the door before being violently ill. Needless to say, while it wasn't the worst meal I have ever had, being sick afterwards certainly will keep me from going back any time soon.

I was visiting friends in Cape Coral and we were thinking steak, Del Prado was near so we tried it. Server Willow was new, nice, and attentive. Concerns for me: No pale ale on tap, very blah head lettuce salad. Toasted "garlic" bread just ok, extra bread was 99cents, so we passed. Interior is circa 1975. The good: Filet was good quality, properly cooked, baked potato good as well. I doubt I will return.

Food was good. Beer was cold.. cowboy steak was huge.. Jaegerschnitzel was huge.. Shrimp cocktail wasn't all I thought it would be but the shrimp was cold and I guess that's why it's on the appetizer menu.. garlic bread was good. Crab cakes were good.. Server was nice..

I would come here again but I would order the more authentic Hungarian dishes. Came for the early bird special but got there a little late - LOL. For early bird, order before 6pm. I'm interested to go again and get the specials from the owner. Was surprised by the fine dining atmosphere for this area. On the outside doesn't look like much but give it a whirl.

Oh my god! I ordered dinner for two filet and ate it solo. Comes with its own table. I would have to say, living across the road for 20 years and never trying it makes me look stupid. I am definatly coming back

I went to the Del Prado Steak house because Outback had a 90 minute wait time. We did not know of any other steak houses in Cape Coral. We were seated in the bar section, which was loud. Very attentive service. Large menu. The bread, which I had no idea what kind it was, came out warm which is a plus. The salad however, is really awful. It is just plain with corm added which does nothing. The dressing is just really bad. Really, nothing special. My steak, which was a filet, was cooked as ordered, but really had no flavor. The veggies were right out of the freezer. The atmosphere seems dated. I think that Cape Coral needs to get a really good steak house or the Del Prado steak house needs to get a serious menu update. Better steak than Outback, but everything else fell short.

We visited Del Prado Steak House with my parents for Christmas Eve dinner. We had a 6 o'clock reservation and we were there for two and a half hours. After we were seated, other patrons were seated, ate, left, and then new patrons replaced them at neighboring booths while we waited. We received no explanation for the delay. My father ordered a margarita which was mostly ice with a few sips of drink. The bread was flavorless toast and there was a charge to receive more. My father requested a substitute for the vegetable of the day, but after several trips to the kitchen the server informed us that there were no other options. My mother requested french fries and received home fries. My father requested au gratin potatoes and received no potatoes whatsoever. My wife requested a baked potato and received a plane, dry potato without even any butter or sour cream. Two of the four steaks we ordered were grossly under-cooked. We wished we'd brought pillows to sit on, because the booths were horribly uncomfortable. About the only saving grace of this place, and the reason I give it two stars instead of one, was the flavor and size of the steaks. If you go, bring pillows to sit on and, if your wait is as long as ours, you can take a nap as well.

Had a great NY strip steak, salad, baked potato - traditional steak house fare. Both hubby and I were totally satisfied. Yes, it's a bit more expensive than some of the local bar and grills, but the price was about what we'd expect back home at this type of establishment. Quiet, with an older crowd. And they take reservations, which is nice.

Was not impressed. Went here with a big group and got a sirloin and it was very tough. The decor was very old and outdated. It was expensive for such terrible steak. It's a lower cut of meat but Texas Roadhouse is way better and cheaper!

I thought the early bird special was very good. Both my steak and my friends meal was tasty and we couldn't finish. The wine was good the coffee was good. Loved that I wasn't rushed though dinner, all said it was a very pleasant dinner. I'll go back again.

The escargot was NOT edible. Like a microwaved mushroom with no seasoning. The vegetable of the day was frozen bag vegetables. The augratin potatoes were good, but a bit dry. The rib eye was big, cooked perfectly but tasted rather liver like. We had to get up to find a waitress on two occasions. I will not go back.

NY Strip Steak, Ceasar salad, French fries, steamed veggies and mozzarella sticks. Delicious. Will be back definitely.

I just had the best meal of my life here. We ordered the Cowboy steak and added peppercorn sauce from another steak in the menu as well as the schnitzel. The steak was excellent, cooked perfectly for the "medium" order and the schnitzel was quiet good. When I duped the schnitzel in the popcorn sauce however; omg. Unbeliever secret of the Cape. Can't believe I passes here so many times without coming in.

The food was great but average. It wasn't spectacular. Good service. The outside wasn't amazing and the inside reminded me of a diner, but it was comfortable. Filet Mignon was tender and tasty, veggies were good, baked potato was great, and the wine was great. I don't think it was anything better than Outback though.

Always have had a good meal here. Especially the steaks, afterall it's a steak house. My husband loves the Black Forest Schnitzal. Au gratin potatoes are to die for as well as the tiaramisu. Went last night at 6 pm and the place was packed. The have an outstanding early bird deal at 5 so that was the reason for the crowd. Good service dispite the crowd.

The outside decor doesn't exactly pull you in, but once inside, the atmosphere is warm, cozy and the service staff very friendly. Came during early bird special, so 12 ounce strip steak was $9.95, with typical side choices of baked potato, vegetable, etc. Steak was cooked to order, good, not too fatty but a bit of gristle. Coffee and tiramisu was good. A decent wine list. Just a good, solid dinner, nothing special. Clientele seemed heavy on the senior citizen age range but that might have been due to the timing of our visit. Overall, not a bad choice to eat in Cape Coral.
